As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, Madisonville Main Street is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ Accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by the National Main Street Center.

Downtown Madisonville Alliance is a community-driven 501(c)3 non-profit, in partnership with the City of Madisonville.  Together, the partnership makes up the Historic Downtown Madisonville Main Street program.

The Alliance was originally formed in 2019, when the City of Madisonville decided to apply for the TN Downtowns grant.  After obtaining the grant award, volunteers were recruited to help work on the grant project, now known as Memorial Park. Once complete, the group applied for TN Main Street and Main Street America Accreditation.

Downtown Madisonville became accredited in July of 2022, for meeting the required standards of performance in 2021, and the Alliance continues to grow in its membership.
